On December 4 a forum was held, with the participation of representatives of the trade departments of manufacturing companies, and representatives of national and regional retail networks.
The idea of the forum and its subject were decided by RusBrand's trade committee and supported by ECR-Rus, which was co-organizer of the event.
On the agenda were current issues in the industry, the most important of which were the growth of the Russian retail sector, strategic cooperation between retailers and manufacturers, and directions towards more effective consumer relations. The packed schedule consisted of presentations from representatives of the companies Danone, Bistroff, Procter and Gamble, Bunge CIS, Baltika, Piaterochka, and Mosmart. Karen Bevan of IGD was a special guest of the conference, coming in specially from England. The discussion centered around three key points: development of category management, logistics, and promo actions. The presentations generated many questions, and each was accompanied by lively and interesting discussion.
In the words of Matthew Price, a member of the board of directors and the chairman of the trade committee of RusBrand, such forums are of interest to all parties. "The forum proved that both manufacturers and retail chains are interested in dialogue. We plan to make this forum a yearly event. Hopefully next year we will have more participants, particularly from the retail side," he said.
